These terms are the agreement between you and AI Citation Monitor (a product of Outline Technologies) for use of the website, the free checker, and the paid product. By creating an account, running a check, or paying for a plan, you agree to them. We kept them short and readable on purpose, and nothing here is legal or financial advice.
What the service does
AI Citation Monitor measures how often, where, and how favorably AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews) cite or recommend a brand. For each tracked brand we ask the engines the questions your buyers ask, sample each question several times because AI answers change run to run, and report a visibility score with a confidence interval, a competitor share of voice, the sources the engines pulled from, and a prescriptive fix list.
It is a measurement, not a promise. We never guarantee that any engine will cite or recommend you, and we cannot control what the engines say. When a sample is too thin to be meaningful, we deliberately report no score rather than a misleading one.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. If you use the product for an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these terms on its behalf. Give us accurate account and billing information and keep it current.
Your account
Keep your login credentials safe. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. One person should not share a single seat to dodge plan limits.
Acceptable use
Use the product for measuring brands you own or are authorized to track. Do not scrape or resell the product, hammer the free checker with automation, attempt to exhaust our API budget, reverse engineer the scoring to rebuild a competing service, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or use the tool to harass anyone. We rate-limit the free checker and the report generator, and we will throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that abuse the service or put other customers at risk.
Plans, billing, and renewals
There is a genuine free tier and several paid plans. Paid plans are billed in advance and renew automatically each period until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your dashboard and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. We do not pro-rate partial periods unless the law requires it. Prices may change; if they do, we give notice before your next renewal. Payments are processed by our merchant of record, Creem, who handles the card details, taxes, and invoices. We never see or store your full card number. Refunds are covered in our refund policy.
Who owns what
You own your data: the brands, domains, prompts, and competitor lists you add. You grant us the limited license needed to run the service, which means sending those prompts and domains to the AI engines and data sources we measure, storing the raw results, and computing your scores. We own the product itself, including the measurement methodology, the scoring, the software, and the site content. We may use aggregated and anonymized data (which never identifies you or your brand) to improve the product and our research.
Not affiliated with the AI engines
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and Copilot are trademarks of their respective owners. We use the names only to say which engines we measure. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the service up, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change, or remove features as the product grows. Anything labeled beta or experimental is provided as is and may change or disappear. If we discontinue a paid feature you rely on, we will tell you and treat you fairly on billing.
The honest limits
We give you the best measurement we can, with the uncertainty shown openly. To the maximum extent the law allows, the service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for business decisions you make from the data, for the behavior of the AI engines, or for indirect or consequential losses. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using the product and cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, abuse the service, or fail to pay. On termination your access ends; we keep and delete data as described in the privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. If we make a material change, we will say so on this page and, where appropriate, by email. Continuing to use the product after a change means you accept the update.
